The rap about a wrap that wrapped like a wrapper around a rapper

SPOILER ALERT! LYRICS TO NEW SONG BELOW

Yo yo yo

There once was a wrap

And we put a rapper in the wrap cos he rap yo

And it wrapped like a wrapper when the rapper rapped

He was wrapped in thought yet wrapped in a wrap

That’s a wrap y’all

Of course this is still a work in progress. However you will never be able to look at the word “wrap” ever again without questioning the spelling of it (or is that just us?)

Basically, to all our loyal followers (lol #swag) who are following us, we haz some new news that gnu’s never knew!

We are currently in the middle of recording our DEBUT EP. How exhilarating. It really has been an absolutely mind-blowing experience for the four of us and, even though we’re not even halfway through yet (it’s a long process y’all), we are very overwhelmed at what we so far have got down (or is that too egotistical?).

To cite ourselves whenever any little thing happens (i.e. upcoming gig, rehearsal, new song, somebody sneezed, Josh drew an astonishingly beautiful boaby-cat etc), you guys are in for a treat. As are you gals.

We love every single one of our fans, friends, family and fairy cakes and if it weren’t for you, we would not be recording at these studios. You guys got us here. In fact, you should all just come up to the studio and record the EP for us considering this is your work. We would be more than obliged to have a snooze on the surprisingly comfortable Riverside couches while you guys sweat it out, if you think you can handle it.

Thank you for your support guys, you’ve given us all this and in return we’re handing back a kickass debut EP, paired with an EP Launch Gig (got to be done guys, sorry), Q&A’s on the side, music video(s) and maybe even a little merch if you’re good.. And that’s only the beginning of the plans, we have even more on the way..

This is our year, we can feel it in our bones. And we’re going to own this year, it looks like we’re going to need some people to own it with. Help us rule the kingdoms of ‘13 and sail away into the sunset on a boat with us. Pretty please?

B.

We have never been prouder to stand tall and call ourselves Valid on Sundays.

We have a tumblr?

Well this is a pleasant surprise guys. I totally forgot we owned this tumblr as it’s been so long since it’s last use. However I’m so taking control of this badboy once again and not letting it down again.

To brief any of you readers on what we’ve been up to recently, we have been beyond lucky to get the opportunity to record at two amazing recording studios; the brand new Bare Calf Studios with the very talented Michael Butler, and Scotland’s largest recording studio Riverside Studios with the prestigious Duncan Cameron who has some pretty big bands on his sound engineering CV and has 45 years of recording experience (he’s also been on the other side of that intimidating sound engineer glass - he has appeared on many other albums playing many instruments including banjo, bass, guitar, slide guitar, vocals, Uillean Pipes, pedal steel guitar and mandolin - frankly I find that pretty impressive).

We understand how fortunate we have been to be awarded these things and we’re currently recording an EP between these two studios, which we cannot wait to release to you guys. We have no idea how it’s going to go, because we’re going into these studios with a rough idea of how our songs go (despite playing them for over a year at gigs we’re keeping open minded) and we’re just adding and changing and taking away while we’re in. Like for example, during the recording of Back Inside the Boundaries at Bare Calf, we were changing the guitar parts all over the place and adding all these new drums parts in and messing around with synth parts and vocal parts and it almost sounds like a new song. It really is an amazing experience, and once we’re done of course we’re going to have a wee EP Launch gig on the go and we can bring all our musical mayhem straight to you.

For the time being however, we have a practice tonight which I personally am very excited about as due to prelims and the like it’s been too long since we’ve done something together so it’ll be interesting to say the least to see how it goes. As always, we’re open to song suggestions.

So to our 9 followers and anyone else who wishes to read this, we will be using this tumblr a lot more often now, so feel free to promote us or reblog this post to get us a bit more well known in the glorious land of Tumblr and unicorns.

Over and out,

Ben

Dusting off the tumblr.

Hey guys.

It’s been a while since we’ve used tumblr but we thought we should finally dust it off and give you handful of dedicated tumblr fans some information on the band.

We have recently been very very busy preparing for our super important gig at the Attic which is now coming up in FIVE DAYS. We’ll be playing some older classics, and we’ll even throw in our BRAND NEW SONG and a couple of new covers (such as Levels by Avicii and What You Know by Two Door Cinema Club)

Of course we’ve made a brilliant start at selling out our tickets, with only a fifth of them gone, so if you’re still to buy one you can get them from Ben :)

We had a very eventful rehearsal at Riverside on Friday night, and we’ll be sharing some nice wee surprises with you within the next week on our new sound that we’re working on.

So stay tuned to our tumblr, as chances are we’ll be using it a lot more now to tell you all about what’s going on in the Valid on Sundays world.

PS - remember to get voting at http://www.redbullbedroomjam.com/band/valid-on-sundays/ - give us a wee 5 star and a comment and we’ll love you forever :)

Gig blog - 1st Oct. 2011 - The Bay

Hey guyz, we’re just back from our very first gig. It was free entry, and we played from 5 till about half 5. Surprisingly we had a great turn out, we were expecting playing to a near-empty bar, full of drunks, bar staff and lost squirrels.

But we were happy to see the bar full, rather lively and predominantly sober :D And not a squirrel in sight, although they’re height may have been a major disadvantage here.

But we went on and set up, and we opened with a little Pink Floyd cover - Happiest Days of our Lives. Crowd was silent, but we sort of expected this - that’s why we’d put it first in the set. Then straight into another Pink Floyd number: Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 (“I DON’T NEED NO EDUCATION!”). This was my (Ben’s) first solo of the gig, and covering a David Gilmour solo can only go badly wrong. But it went average - from what I heard - and the audience didn’t seem to annoyed at any mistakes.

“Okay we’re going to do some of our own songs now. This is called ‘Caffeine and Sleep Devrivation.’” The first words spoken by the band. These words were spoken by our Jolly Farmer Josh.

So straight into Caffeine and Sleep Devritation, a song written a couple of months ago by myself, Josh and our old bassist King. It was actually written through, as the name suggests, not much sleep and far too much caffeine. I think it was written in about an hour, from around 1am till 2am? And our energy drink intake was dangerously high. It seems to make a good combination.

Then after that, into She Should Have Bought A MAX GRIP. This song was written about a personal issue of somebody just having to let go and stop being so controlling. The term MAX GRIP is the type of pick Josh uses, and seems to drop rather frequently during the performances of this song.

This actually went down really really well with the crowd, which is a big difference to whenever small bands play their own songs (especially if they’ve never been played before). Lots of cheering, and some drunk shouts - best reception you’ll get at a bar to be honest.

After that we played A Whole Child Ago by Biffy Clyro. Josh’s guitar went all weird, and mine cut off completely halfway through the song. Apart from that, it went great! :D

After that we played Another Brick in the Wall Part 3, which is basically Part 2, but easier and much more shouty.

We finished with that continuous D note, which Josh played, as I spoke my famous homosexuality speech over it.

“This is going to be our last song guys. Now we’re going to find that inner key inside your heart, and unlock that closet you’ve been hiding away in all your lives. So sit back, relax, and let us take you on a trip… to the Gay Bar!”

Josh started with that famous riff, and we just went mental on stage. We gave it our all, and probably put far too much passion into it.

Then it all went silent.

Josh stepped up to the microphone and said…

“You out the closet yet?”

“Nah?”

“Well let’s start again then…”

Then straight back into it, Josh screaming into the mic “I’VE GOT SOMETHING TO PUT IN YOU!!!!”. Crazy guitar solo at the end, it all stops…

“superstar.”

BANG.

I then told the audience to add us on Facebook, Myspace, Soundcloud, Tumblr, Youtube, Twitter and Gmail. A shout from Kelsey: “GET A BEBO!!”

Me: “Ehh… Yeah good shout. We’ll set up a Bebo tonight, you’s all need to send us luv, yeah? Cool. Thanks guys.”

What a day. I love you guys. Peace out, dude.

Hey mighty followerz. No wait. Hey mighty Follower.

To our Mighty Follower and to all future followerz looking back at this past post. We’re Valid On Sundays, a Glaswegian band, consisting of 3 escapee zoo animals and one Jolly Farmer.

This is teh Ben Reffin, local Lead Guitarist and WahWah Noise Maker of the band. I’m in control of our band’s Tumblr, and our G-Mail (validonsundays@gmail.com). This is, of course, because I am a G. And I am also male. Apparentally.

We also have Twitter (managed by eewann as he is a twit - www.twitter.com/#!/validonsundays/ ), a Youtube (also managed by eewann as he is a Tube - www.youtube.com/user/validonsundays/ ), a Facebook ( Calum does this one as he… has a face? - http://www.facebook.com/validonsundays/ ), a Soundcloud ( managed by our Jolly Farmer Josh - www.soundcloud.com/valid-on-sundays/ ) and of course a Myspace ( Calum again - www.myspace.com/validonsundays/ ). Feel free to follow us on any of those, or send us an email and I will get back to you faster than you can race a monkey to Japan and back, but only using apple rollerblades as your mode of transport.

I guess Tumblr’s a weird thing for bands to do, but we’re going to use this as our blog on all our gigs and rehearsals and song writing and all that jazz. We’ll also post all Youtube videos here, and all Soundcloud recordings too.

PS - Special shoutout to Pacman and his wife.
