Recording new EP at Riverside Studios

We have a tumblr?

Well this is a pleasant surprise guys. I totally forgot we owned this tumblr as it’s been so long since it’s last use. However I’m so taking control of this badboy once again and not letting it down again.

To brief any of you readers on what we’ve been up to recently, we have been beyond lucky to get the opportunity to record at two amazing recording studios; the brand new Bare Calf Studios with the very talented Michael Butler, and Scotland’s largest recording studio Riverside Studios with the prestigious Duncan Cameron who has some pretty big bands on his sound engineering CV and has 45 years of recording experience (he’s also been on the other side of that intimidating sound engineer glass - he has appeared on many other albums playing many instruments including banjo, bass, guitar, slide guitar, vocals, Uillean Pipes, pedal steel guitar and mandolin - frankly I find that pretty impressive).

We understand how fortunate we have been to be awarded these things and we’re currently recording an EP between these two studios, which we cannot wait to release to you guys. We have no idea how it’s going to go, because we’re going into these studios with a rough idea of how our songs go (despite playing them for over a year at gigs we’re keeping open minded) and we’re just adding and changing and taking away while we’re in. Like for example, during the recording of Back Inside the Boundaries at Bare Calf, we were changing the guitar parts all over the place and adding all these new drums parts in and messing around with synth parts and vocal parts and it almost sounds like a new song. It really is an amazing experience, and once we’re done of course we’re going to have a wee EP Launch gig on the go and we can bring all our musical mayhem straight to you.

For the time being however, we have a practice tonight which I personally am very excited about as due to prelims and the like it’s been too long since we’ve done something together so it’ll be interesting to say the least to see how it goes. As always, we’re open to song suggestions.

So to our 9 followers and anyone else who wishes to read this, we will be using this tumblr a lot more often now, so feel free to promote us or reblog this post to get us a bit more well known in the glorious land of Tumblr and unicorns.

Over and out,

Ben

Okay guyz we have our Battle of the Bands coming up in a week and a half.
And if you must know, we are shitting ourselves.
We’ll be playing our normal set (which includes She Should Have Bought a Max Grip, Caffeine and Sleep Deprivation, Gay Bar, Another Brick in the Wall Part 3 and Nanageddon). We will also be throwing in our all new song, which is part of the new album we’re working on. Details on the song to be released later.
And as we always do with our gigs, we have our mystery song. Our first gig’s mystery song was Gay Bar. Our Halloween gig was Do Me a Favour (Arctic Monkeys). For our Battle of the Bands Round 1, our mystery song will be one of the greatest songs of all time, covered by many bands in the past (although we’re adding a little indie spin to it).
So come along to watch Valid on Sundays rock out some choonz at the Bay, 26th of November, 3-6pm.
